Description

Lotus Cleansing Gel is my handmade oil-to-milk cleanser for dry, mature and everyday skin - it melts away make-up, SPF and the day, then rinses clean with water, never tight, never stripped.

My autumn take on the cleansing gel so many of you already love. Same clever texture - a silky oil-gel that melts away make-up, SPF and the day, then turns into a soft milk the moment it meets warm water. It rinses clean. It never leaves your skin feeling tight.

What's changed is what's inside. When the weather swings from hot and dry to cold, wet and windy, and the heating goes on, skin tends to feel tighter and thirstier. So I built this one around blackcurrant seed oil, plum kernel oil and golden jojoba - comforting oils that leave skin feeling soft and cared for after cleansing, not stripped.

It's scented with my Lotus blend - clary sage, bergamot, ylang ylang, sweet orange and Roman chamomile. Fresh citrus-floral to start, settling into something earthy, sweet and calm. Two minutes at the end of the day that feel like yours.

I created Lotus in autumn 2024, while I was planning my trip to Bali. Renewal, from the ground up - like the lotus flower blooming clean out of the mud. This is the first new Lotus product since.

Ingredients and what they do

• Blackcurrant seed oil - rich in omega fatty acids, it helps skin feel soft and comfortable
• Plum kernel oil - silky and light, it leaves skin feeling smooth without heaviness
• Golden jojoba oil - a liquid wax very similar to the skin's own oils, so it cleanses without stripping
• Apricot kernel and fractionated coconut oils (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride) - the light, slippy base that melts make-up and SPF
• Castor oil - helps lift away stubborn make-up
• Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate - the emulsifier that turns the oil into a milk when you add water, so it rinses clean
• Glycerin and Propanediol - humectants that help skin feel soft rather than tight after cleansing
• Fruit extracts - bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange and lemon
• Lotus essential oil blend - clary sage, bergamot, ylang ylang, sweet orange and Roman chamomile
• Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol - the preservative, there because the formula contains water and fruit extracts

How to use

1. Massage 2-3 pumps into dry skin, working gently over make-up and SPF.
2. If you have time, leave it on for 5-10 minutes as a pre-cleanse treat.
3. Add a splash of warm water and massage again - it turns to a soft, creamy milk.
4. Rinse thoroughly, or lift away with a warm flannel.
5. Pat dry and follow with Lotus Light Cream.

Sizes: 100g aluminium bottle with a reusable pump or aluminium cap, or a 10g trial tin. Keep your pump and order the cap closure next time to cut waste further.

Storage: somewhere cool, out of direct sunlight.

Suitability

Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, because the Lotus blend contains clary sage - choose Reef Cleansing Gel instead. Patch test before first use if your skin is sensitive, as it contains fruit extracts and essential oils. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Contains apricot kernel and plum kernel oils - please check with your GP or pharmacist first if you have a nut allergy.

Plastic free, vegan, cruelty free and palm oil free. Handmade by me, in small batches, in my Devon studio.

Questions

Lotus or Reef Cleansing Gel?
Lotus for dry, mature or everyday skin - softer, richer and more comforting while the weather does its worst. Reef for oily, combination and everyday skin - bright and citrus-fresh. Both are here to stay.

Will an oil cleanser leave my skin greasy?
No. Add water and it turns into a milk that rinses clean, so nothing sits on your skin. It just doesn't leave it tight.

Is it a one-step cleanse?
Yes - it takes off make-up, SPF and the day in one go. If you like a double cleanse, massage it in, rinse, then go again.

Can I use it during pregnancy?
No - the Lotus blend contains clary sage. Choose Reef Cleansing Gel, which is suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
