Lotus Sugar Scrub

Description

Lotus Sugar Scrub is my handmade oil-to-milk sugar scrub for face and body - scrubby without being scratchy, creamy without being oily, and it rinses away clean.

The scrub I'm proudest of. Massage it in, add a splash of water and it turns milky and soft, then rinses away clean and leaves skin smooth.

Sugar and jojoba seed powder do the polishing. Apricot kernel and blackcurrant seed oils leave skin soft, so it never feels stripped afterwards. For face and body - and especially lovely on legs and feet once the tights come out.

Scented with my Lotus blend - clary sage, bergamot, ylang ylang, sweet orange and Roman chamomile. Fresh citrus-floral to start, then earthy, sweet and calm.

I created Lotus in autumn 2024, while I was planning my trip to Bali. Renewal, from the ground up - like the lotus flower blooming clean out of the mud.

Ingredients and what they do

• Sugar - dissolves as you massage, for a gentle polish
• Jojoba seed powder - smooth, rounded exfoliating grains
• Apricot kernel oil - light, silky and full of vitamin E
• Blackcurrant seed oil - rich in omega fatty acids, it helps skin feel soft and comfortable
• Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate - a creamy fatty alcohol and olive-derived emulsifiers that turn the scrub milky when you add water
• Polysorbate 80 - helps it rinse away clean, so no oily film is left behind
• Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid - the preservative blend that keeps it safe once water gets into the tin in the shower, with citric acid to balance the pH
• Lotus essential oil blend - clary sage, bergamot, ylang ylang, sweet orange and Roman chamomile

How to use

• Use 1-3 times a week
• Scoop a small amount from the tin with clean, dry fingers or a spatula and massage over face or body
• Add a little water and keep massaging - it turns soft and milky
• Take care around the eyes
• Rinse with warm water and pat dry
• Follow with Lotus Light Cream

Tip: the shower floor can get slippery - rinse it down afterwards.

Sizes: 50g and 150g aluminium tins.

Storage: somewhere cool, out of direct sunlight.

Suitability

Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, because the Lotus blend contains clary sage - choose Miracle Cleansing Polish instead. Don't use on broken or irritated skin. Patch test before first use if your skin is sensitive, as it contains essential oils. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Contains apricot kernel oil - please check with your GP or pharmacist first if you have a nut allergy.

Plastic free, vegan, cruelty free and palm oil free. Handmade by me, in small batches, in my Devon studio.

Questions

Can I use it on my face?
Yes. Use a small amount, massage gently, take care around your eyes and rinse well. 1-3 times a week is plenty.

Will it leave my skin oily?
No. Add water and it turns milky, then rinses away clean - skin is left soft rather than coated.

Does it contain microplastics?
No. The polishing comes from sugar and jojoba seed powder, both of which are natural and biodegradable.

Which size should I choose?
The 50g tin is a lovely way to try it, or for face only. The 150g tin is better value if you'll use it on your body too.
